School Consultations:
Janine provides input into many issues related to the school situation, such as promoting the need for
- Individual Learning Plans;
- Behavioural Support Plans; and
- Parent Support Group meetings.
Children need to have proactive plans in place to facilitate success at school and avoid repeated patterns of failure. Their progress needs to be monitored closely so that amendments can be made to the program to ensure that it best serves the child’s developmental needs.
Workshops:
Janine provides lectures, seminars and workshops for a range of professional groups, including teachers, psychologists, paediatricians, speech pathologists and disability workers. The focus for teachers is understanding children with ASD within an educational setting and creating strategies to facilitate success. Other topics for workshops include:
- early identification of ASD
- how females with ASD present
- challenges involved in the assessment and diagnostic process.
Janine is also interested in conducting workshops for parents of children with ASD, with a focus on fostering strengths and building resilience in children.
